It is funny how the monk is the most overpowered profession in the game but nobody complains about them :P

I'm hoping there are still professions, but each profession can perform most roles, only differently. A caster could swing a sword as a battlemage, and actually be effective, sacrificing the protection of thick armour for magical ability.

Warrior: I'd like that really thick, protective armour.
Armourer: Here 'ya go! Enjoy it!
Necromancer: Hello, I'd like a thick set like his please.
Armourer: Sorry, can't do that.
Necromancer: Why not?
Armourer: Uhhh... You're not strong enough?
*Necromancer lifts Fellblade with one hand*
Armourer: ... Ummm... You want that high energy armour right?

Rumors are, that could happen. That will make for some interesting combos...

Ill be honest I like the basics of the current state of guild wars , every prof has key roles and its makes the game much simpler to play , if people can mix heavy armor and magic and what not then itll take hours to sort out partys.

-Only time will tell thou but there are some good ideas of what may happen .

I think the professions can safely be lowered to five.

Warrior+Ranger=Soldier
Monk+Paragon=Supporter
Dervish+Assassin=Specialist
Necromancer+Ritualist=Summoner
Mesmer+Elementalist=Caster

Oh no another brainless wammo having trouble hitting a sin kiting him, followed by getting his arse kicked by it. Please if the derv and the sin where so useless why do u think both proffesions plays in high ranked gvg ? O_o Now leave this thread and go hit some Trolls.

Back to topic

Well i think a classless char could be pretty cool just like in games like Morrowind. I think not including the non core proffesions, and just sticking 2 the core proffesions, would hurt quite a lot players, just as myself playing the sin beacuse its my fav prof. (Just beacuse ppl diden't know how 2 play them at the start, doesen't mean its a bad prof. All profs have their own place in the meta, and none of them deserves 2 be left out!). So including them all or making hybrids, or a new non class specific chars, would be the best way if u ask me.

AS long as they have in some form:

Ranger
Dervish
Mesmer
Elementalist

I will be happy.

I would be a bit upset if they took my Dervish away from me, it's the only Melee Class I like (so far).

I think all 10 proffessions deserve a place in GW2. Why you, might, ask? becuase they've become a part of the storyline, just like Cantha, Elona, or the Northern Shiverpeaks/Dungeons of GW:EN. They're part of the storyline, part of the world. Why would they throw away some much needed diversity that they have already worked out? They've spent months working on each proffession, it would seem a waste to disregard it all.

Completely agreed. I hate playing as a warrior. In my opinion, it is just boring. And assassin is interesting, but I was never any good at it. I like playing the Dervish. I like how they use a scythe, and how they're a combination of a melee fighter and an elementalist.

Also, I would really miss ritualists if they got rid of them for GW2. The ritualist is great because you can fulfill quite a few different roles in a party with one (although some of these builds require an open minded party). For instance, you can summon spirits, or you can concentrate on healing spells, or you can use weapons spells and the defensive skills of a melee class and turn your rit into a melee fighter (like a cool Rt/D build that I found. That's the one that requires the most open minded party).

So yeah, dervish and rits are my two favourite classes in GW. I also like rangers (my main is a ranger, but only because I couldn't choose a rit or dervish to spend two months dying in pre searing for LDoA), but I think it's pretty safe to say rangers will probably be in GW2. So I am really hoping that the rit and dervish will carry over to GW2. I really like the idea of a charr rit or dervish.

The last I read from Arenanet on the isasue is they havent decided yet. They are reviewing the classes, some may not return and others could be combined.

Because of balance, they have noticed that balancing even 10 professions is very hard.

So they will try and simplify things.

Think about things like a warrior type class that is able to wield hammer, sword, axe and scythe

A monk type class that heals as we know it at the moment but has taken the ritualists weapon spells over from the ritualist.

A Summoner type class ( ritualist of today) that is the only one able to spawn spirits ( including what spirits that rangers have today) and minions.

I can't really see elementalist being able to take any other professions skills, cause no other professions has skills that you would say should belong to eles.

Mesmers (have to stay btw, GW invented them :P )taking over most of the necros skills.

Maybe ranger and assassin in one class, one side is how they attack from range the other is in melee.

If they let the sin out i will not buy the game . All proffesions have their own kind of charm .

Cool

Lol, I agree about him not being able to chase down assasins or kill dervishes, hah!

I think they should keep the 10 already existing classes. Some people started playing Guild Wars in Factions or Nightfall, and many of these players would be attracted to the "Unique" classes offered in their campaigns. These people may have played through the game using these characters, and how would they feel if they're main class was just taken away. Anet has got the experience with these 10 classes, so I think they should keep them.

Having said this, I have a feeling it will just be the 6 core classes. *sigh* I just ditched my warrior to try out the assassin for a change lol. Now, come GW2, it will be back to the warrior...

First off only time i W/Mo is my generic runner build
2nd in AB i have been killed by ONE Sin in all the battles i have done in 1v1 combat, so i can hardly be said as "getting his arse kicked by them"
Quick FYI i'm not a he, try reading a name and guessing "JeniM" maybe is "Jeni M" and from that maybe leap of logic you could guess i'm a "she" just consider it before you say someone else is brainless

I still don't like the assassin hit-and-run play style but i have a new PvE dervish and they are quite good at hiding behind their enchantments - to each their own i guess

Back on topic now after clearing that up

I like the current AL settings and i personally think being able to wear any armor is pretty bad idea

Rune Knight. Put magic to blade and then use it via blade. It can be great sale booster to add classes what are not used in many MMORPG games.
